Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@motherclucks.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We make backyard chicken keeping simple and fun. Mother Clucks Co. delivers a ready-to-go coop, happy hens, and everything you need to start collecting eggs. From there, you can choose to care for your flock yourself or upgrade to one of our maintenance plans for hands-off help.

Your one-time setup fee includes:

  • A fully assembled, predator-safe coop
  • 2-4 healthy, friendly egg-laying hens
  • Initial feed, bedding, and supplies (we should be specific right about supplies?
  • Delivery, setup, access to our ‘Welcome to the Flock’ Care Guide, and a quick orientation
  • One week of post-setup support

After that, you can keep things DIY or add ongoing services anytime.

Absolutely! We offer custom coop upgrades and consulting for customers who want more space, integrated runs, or aesthetic backyard designs. We’ll visit your property, design a layout, and handle the logistics for an additional fee.

We have flexible monthly plans that includes:

  • Coop cleaning and bedding refresh
  • Feed delivery and restocks
  • Hen health checks and replacements
  • Vacation or away-from-home care

You pick the level of support that fits your lifestyle.

(See our Plans & Pricing page for details.)

We choose friendly, reliable layers like Rhode Island Reds—breeds known for personality and steady egg production.

If you’re on a maintenance plan, we handle it for you—including replacement hens.

If you’re on a basic setup, we’ll guide you through next steps or come assist for a small one-time service fee.

You’ll need to be home for delivery and setup. For maintenance visits, we can access your yard without you there as long as we have permission. Just like a pool or lawn service would.

Yes! Most parts of St. Pete and Pinellas County allow for up to 10 hens (no roosters). We’ll help you confirm your local regulations before setup.

Not when maintained properly! Our coops are designed for ventilation and easy cleaning. Routine care (or our service visits) keeps your flock fresh and odor-free. Pests can be a natural part of chicken-keeping, but with our expertise, we’ll help you set your ladies up for success!

With the basic setup, expect just a few minutes a day to open and close your coop door (morning and evening,) collect eggs, top off feed, and check water.

If you’d rather do less of the hands-on tending, our monthly maintenance plans can handle everything for you.

Most hens live 5–8 years and lay most consistently in their first 2.5–3 years. We can help plan for flock rotation or replacements when needed.

Click “Get Clucking” to book your setup consultation. We’ll confirm your space, select your plan, and get you collecting fresh eggs and greeting your new ‘family members’  in no time.
